2004-08-21 - 8:42 a.m. I have made a dangerous, dangerous discovery: the pastry counter at the gourmet food emporium that has opened near my work. Suddenly pastries from many of my favourite bakeries and patisseries - bakeries which, had I previously attempted to visit them all in one day, would have required many hours of travel - are all available, in one place, mere minutes from my desk. They have choclate mousse tarts from Dufflets, pear-chocolate-almond tarts from Clafouti, linzer torte from Konditor, a host of flans and custard tarts, a chocolate mousse bombe from their own in-house bakery which looks lethal... the list goes on. Mere. Minutes. From my desk. This could be a disaster of both physical and financial proportions. Someone must save me from myself.
