Ick. I have to have a root canal. I went to the dentist with a mysterious lump in my gum, he took a bunch of X-rays and banged on one tooth a bit, and finally said "From what I'm seeing here, you should be in a lot more pain, and the fact that you aren't is kind of worrying to me. For starters, you need a root canal, and then we can try and figure out what else is going on - and I think I should send you to a specialist."
I am not happy. One never wants to hear that a root canal is just for *starters*.
