Yikes, it's been a while. But I'm cautiously poking my head up again, probably just in time to disappear again for the holidays...
I have had a particularly ill-tempered November so far, so it's probably just as well that I've lain low. Although Halloween was fun, more fun than I expected it to be, given that we were crazy at work with a series of things from the legionella outbreak here to the evacuation of one of the northern communities due to bad water (or due to press about bad water, depending on who you ask!). But at the last minute Miss M and I decided to head over to Church street in costume, and even though Miss M's brilliant mask-making skills resulted in her being swamped by tourists who wanted to take her picture, it was still fun to see everyone all decked out.
Though Halloween on Church street has certainly changed - it used to be kind of a drag event, and now it's more of a tourist crowd... we did get to see someone dressed as Plava Lagoona (sp?) from 5th element though, rolling along the street in a huge plastic bubble. I think it was the bubble that impressed us most. Where does one get something which is essentially a human-sized hamster ball?
